Time goes quickly when you have a young family. Tiny, crumpled newborns become wide eyed and smiley babies, unsteady toddlers, cheeky preschoolers and confident big kids faster than we can keep up. Often we want to freeze time and relish the moment. This is what attracts me to photography, we can’t freeze moments but we can record them. These images help us recall our feelings when our loved ones gave that look, that smile, that particular stance.
What?In my photography I am always striving to capture these indefinable things. Things that strike a chord in the hearts of the subjects’ loved ones. Often a family’s favourite image from a shoot is not the one that is most beautifully composed or lit, but the one that reveals some essence of the relationships in the family, or some cherished quirk of an individual. If I capture something like that in a shoot I am very happy!!
Why Now?My three gorgeous boys are my favourite - and mostly willing - subjects. But when my eldest said “Mum, can you watch me with your eyes, not your camera?” I realised I needed to give them a break and find more subjects! I started doing informal shoots for friends and family and my business started to evolve. Click here to read my pricing approach.....
